Cathay Pacific this morning confirmed that it has formally objected to Jetstar Hong Kong’s route licence application to link Hong Kong with 129 destinations in 13 countries. The Cathay Pacific statement said “Approval for the application for a licence to operate in Hong Kong by Jetstar Hong Kong would be a violation of Article 134 of Hong Kong’s basic law because Jetstar Hong Kong does not have its principal place of business in Hong Kong. The application was published in the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Gazette and Cathay Pacific Airways can confirm that it has filed a formal objection to the application.”

Jetstar Hong Kong has four A320s in storage awaiting route licence approval.
