QANTAS today announced a record A$252 million loss for the six month period to December 2013. Of this loss Jetstar contributed A$16 million.
It was announced today that JetStar Group Chief Executive Officer Bruce Buchanan is to depart the role in six months when it will pass to Jayne Hrdlicka. Following the transition Mr Buchanan will remain as a consultant for a further eighteen months.
QANTAS and SkyTeam carrier China Eastern today announced a joint venture to be called JetStar Hong Kong to commence services from Hong Kong next year. The airline will initially commence services with three Airbus A320s and plan to expand to a fleet a eighteen aircraft by 2015. Each airline will invest US$99 million into the new carrier. As well as the existing JetStar Asia carrier based in Singapore there are plans to expand the JetStar Pacific operation from Vietnam in conjunction with Star Alliance carrier Vietnam Airlines and to set up new JetStar carriers in both Japan and Hong Kong.
It was announced today that Vietnam Airlines is to take a 69.93% stake in JetStar Pacific. The QANTAS stake will be 30%. A$25 Million of new capital will be injected with QANTAS providing A$7.5 Million. This will enable the Boeing 737-
JetStar Japan has been officially announced to be a partnership between QANTAS Group, Japan Airlines and Mitsubishi Group. Services will commence before the end of 2012 with fleet size rapidly expanding to 24 Airbus A320 aircraft.
Orders for 110 Airbus A320s have been announced to be split between JetStar carriers and a new full service airline to be based in Asia.
As per of the QANTAS group half yearly results announcement for the period ending December 31st 2010 JetStar half year profits were revealed as increasing by 18% to A$143 million.
JetStar today flew its one millionth passenger on its New Zealand domestic network less than a year after taking services over from JetConnect.
